About Me

Aukje believes God is present and active in every moment of life, therefore there are immense spiritual benefits to reflecting on one’s actions, thoughts, and feelings regularly. Christians are all capable of effectively finding God in their lives with the Holy Spirit as their guide; but at times, it is helpful and encouraging to have a trained spiritual director listen intently to one’s journey, ask the evocative questions, and be curious together. Aukje’s desire is that people continue to grow deeper in their relationship with God. She would be honoured to be a spiritual companion on your journey, listening to the Holy Spirit with you.
     Her own journey started in the Netherlands, before immigrating to Canada. Once her education was completed, she was off to Japan as a missionary, teaching English as a Second Language all the while. Soon after the birth of their first child, they moved back to Canada. As the boys grew more independent, Aukje whole-heartedly delved into her spiritual formation studies, fascinated by the rich history of Christianity and the various spiritual disciplines available to us. Upon graduating from Emmaus Formation Centre with a Certificate in Spiritual Direction, she started her spiritual accompaniment practice. Her experiences have made her very aware of the bountiful grace given, enabling her to come thus far. This realization enables her to offer that safe space to share your story and explore God’s grace in your life.
