About Me

BA (Pastoral Studies), MDiv (Counseling Specialization), DMin (Spiritual Direction)

Having been introduced to Spiritual Direction during a retreat, I saw the incredible personal and spiritual value of this reflective practice of presence and prayer. I became trained as a director with the aim of having more formational conversations with congregation members. My love for direction grew and soon I found myself with a growing spiritual direction practice outside of my congregation. Now I enjoy practicing direction, training new directors, and providing supervision.

Most people who are drawn to do spiritual direction with me say they are grateful for the open, authentic, non-judgmental atmosphere I naturally bring to a session. I believe this comes from my own journey, which did not begin in Christianity. I am intimately aware of what it’s like to journey from outside of Christianity toward growing in intimacy with God through Jesus Christ. I have experienced failure and breakthrough and I deeply trust in God’s transforming work in our lives. This work is a process, and I hope to be able to help you both appreciate and respect the process that takes place over a long, steady period of time, also known as ‘our lifetimes.’ I have experienced many different Church backgrounds and appreciate our differences as well as your convictions. I will trust God with your journey, wherever you find yourself on that journey. There will be times of increasing faith, but also times of surprising doubt. Both are a part of our spiritual formation. I would be glad to be a steady presence with you on that journey.

I have served in Christian recovery ministries and pastoral ministries. I have served as a solo pastor for the past sixteen years at my current congregation. I also provide spiritual direction regularly as well as train spiritual directors through at least four different training programs. In addition, I am an SD Supervisor, doing both group and individual supervision. Whenever I can, I lead contemplative retreats and more recently have begun leading group study tours to Israel.
