About Me

I was drawn to spiritual direction in the mid 80’s.  People would drop in for coffee and share their sacred stories and I would listen.  The frequency and depth of sharing was such that my pastor suggested I had a call to this ministry, so I went for training.  I first went to the Guelph Ignatian Centre and later Regis College. After the #metoo movement many of my women directees began to share experiences of trauma, so I took several courses from the CTRI.
At the very core of my spiritual direction practice I believe that each person has the capacity to love deeply and to grow in intimacy with our Divine Lord who loves us without measure or conditions.  Spiritual direction is a contemplative practice that has the potential to bring us to a greater union with God.  In practice, that would include, surrendering ourselves completely to God; honouring the dignity of all persons; being “Christ” in the world, and truly living Matthew 25.
I use a myriad of prayer methods: contemplative, meditative, healing; prayer of the imagination/Sacred Scripture prayer, narrative/sacred story, journal writing, sacred music, and the creative arts.  Through prayer, persons can better articulate their experiences of God which can be very personal and intimate.  I believe that we are called to be mystics (persons who have had an experience of God).  These very powerful experiences can deepen our relationships with God, others, and the cosmos.
