About Me

TOM MORGAN provides Spiritual Direction in-person at Bread of Life Center in Sacramento and at Mercy Center in Auburn, California, as well as Zoom. Born and raised in Germany, he is a military veteran, and has a background in student affairs at several universities with extensive experience living and working in an Asian-American context. He provides spiritual direction for a broad range of individuals from various faith traditions, including spiritual seekers, veterans, clergy, young adults, and those from the evangelical tradition. Tom also pastored several churches in the Sacramento region for 17 years. His other interests include monastic and contemplative spirituality, the Enneagram, various Christian meditation practices, and encountering God in art and nature.
Tom was drawn to spiritual direction having first experienced this ministry as a directee, which was quite transformative in his spiritual journey. In turn, he is committed to providing a time and place where another can feel safe, affirmed and free to be honest with themselves and with God.  Spiritual direction is a conversation of the heart and uses all our human faculties (intuition, emotion, imagination, senses, and intellect) to discern God’s presence and God’s desire for another. He commits himself to listen with another for “the voice of God” and to help them notice God’s movement in their life.  The ultimate “goal” or fruit of spiritual direction is that those who enter into direction would deepen in their relationship with God, would come to understand themselves more clearly and be formed more and more into the unique person God created them to be.
Tom received his formal training as a Spiritual Director and also as a supervisor of spiritual directors through Christian Formation & Direction Ministries in Los Angeles.
